MESSAGE FROM PAM BELCHER
President of DC 207 Hello Fellow Colored Pencil Fanatics,
What a fun meeting we had in January! It was full of people, energy and snow! It began halfway through our meeting, sending some people into a tizzy. Because I couldn’t leave, for obvious reasons, I was very happy that it settled down to a soggy mess when it was time to leave. Whew! It’s still snowing as I write and a lovely sight outside my window.
A huge thanks to Keith and Karen Artz for opening their beautiful home for our meeting. It was fun to see such a classy house filled with wonderful colored walls and Keith’s artwork. His new studio is pretty cool too; he’s recently transformed it from a woodworking shop into a painting studio. His demo on pouring watercolor backgrounds was just great and for me provided a new way of thinking about that important base layer.
Our next meeting will be our annual critique session in preparation for the March 31 entry deadline for the almighty CPSA International Show. The prospectus is available online. You can find it here: http://cpsa.org/images/stories/
/exhibitions/prospectus12-final.pdf. Our meeting will be held at the Seattle Daniel Smith Store. We won’t be bringing our liquid drink stuff, so get what you need before you come.
For the International Convention, I will be making a poster about our awesome chapter. Susan Jones will represent us this year and she will pack this in her suitcase and put up in the display area. We will include pictures from various events of our chapter, as well as info about our web site, etc. We would like to include a border of business cards from our members. Please bring yours to the next meeting, or if you won’t be there, please send it to me at my home address. We want everyone included!
I look forward to seeing everyone’s work in March. Bring what you’re working on, recently completed, along with any questions you may have. If you need some advice about your piece or help with a title; we’ll give you feedback. I will have just gotten back from Africa, so hope to be over my jet lag by then!
Happy Drawing!
Happy 2012!
Pam
